316L醫療鋼常運用在植入人體的骨釘、鋼板、脊椎矯正器等用途，對於人體肌膚都是不排斥不過敏及不變形。也就是說，如果開刀之類的醫療植入物都能使用，316L不鏽鋼作為一般飾品配戴，過敏的機率可以說是微乎其微。

925純銀並不是剛打耳洞的最佳選擇，因為925純銀含有千分之75的合金，而合金所用金屬沒有規定，反而容易提高過敏及發炎反應的機會。矽膠也是不易過敏材質，但市面上的矽膠耳針通常過細，對於耳洞大小可能會太小，反而造成日後遇到較粗耳針之耳環不易配戴。
